Sutjeska National Park is one of the oldest parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in south-eastern part of this country. The park was established in 1965 in order to protect wild high-mountain landscape and its primeval Perucica forest. The Park features exceptional diversity of landscape (valleys, woods, mountains, rivers, canyons). Eight glacial lakes called 'mountain eyes' are located on Zelengora area. Zelengora is also special hunting place, where deers, bears, boars, grouses can be found. Flora is also abundant. Tourist infrastructure attracts mountain-lovers. In the park there are special hiking trials to Maglić, Orlovačko jezero, Volujak and more. Cyclists can use special bike trials. This place is well-known of the battle which took place during WWII. Broz Tito's guerillas have overcome the Nazi Germans. Today, the giant stone monument, erected in Tjentiste, commemorates this event. Tjentiste is also a great tourist base. Visiting Prijevora, you will have a possibility to set off into the wild forest, to the highest pick of Maglic (2386m above sea level). In the park, there is Trnovacko Lake. In Perucica forest, there are centuries-old conifers and birches. There can also be found an 75-meter waterfall Skakavac.
The newest national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina is Una National Park. It is located in the northwestern part of BiH. The park protects the areas of the valley of the River Una, the canyon of the River Unac and slopes of the mountains Pljesevica, Grmeč and Osječenica. This place features biological and landscape diversity.
In that place rich traditions of fishing, hunting, forestry and agriculture are maintained. Local people, who live in harmony with nature, try to introduce soft tourism and recreation on these areas and thanks to that – gain better standards of living. The park offers plentiful possiblities of active ways of spending free time. Among many activities, tourists are welcome to join to rafting, kayaking, scuba-divining trips or even fishing and educational adventures. The area of the park is rich in cultural and historical objects and places. There are Aultan Ahmed I Mosque, Monastery Rmanj, Church of Holy Trinity, Mosque Duljci, Mosque Orasac and a city where it is placed, and much more.
